Project Summary
The Van Vlack family commissioned three furniture pieces:
kitchen table (ash)
coffee table (ash)
hallway table (American yew)
This came about through a project of renewal on Madison’s near west side. The current home on property was demolished to make room for a new and improved home. In the process, an ash tree infested with Emerald Ash Borer beetles came down, as well as an old American yew next to the existing house.
Jon worked closely with the family to find ways to incorporate some of the wood from those removals back into the new construction. The end result was an attractive collection of ash and yew furniture which serves as a connectiona and reminder to what once stood on the property.
